Jobs

I believe there’s no such thing as too-big-to-fail. David slew Goliath and both sides got over it pretty quickly. What our government is losing is a basic understanding that liberty to succeed necessarily entails freedom to fail; and bad business needs to go out of business. Better business needs the opportunity to take root in the mulch. The way out of economic difficulty is through free markets and the free enterprise system, not through government stimulus spending and preferential deals for bailouts. Trust in free men and free women, and never doubt what they can do! They have a nearly infinite capacity to lift this whole economy up, if the government would just get out of the way.

Small business creates 70% of the jobs in America and accounts for most of the new job growth. But as a small business owner, I wonder if the government wants us to succeed and hire more folks or not. In my business, for instance, I’ve got my mandatory signs up: swearing that I’ve got no forced labor on the premises; announcing that unlicensed firearms aren’t allowed; and (my favorite) signs in the women’s and the men’s restrooms informing patrons that alcohol can be dangerous to the unborn. (I tried to order one that says abortion can be fatal to the unborn, but the federal government is apparently out of stock). And your taxpayer money pays for such nonsense, which is really nobody else’s business anyway. ‘Who does the Government think they are?’

We need to stop exporting jobs and bring jobs home. We need to revise the tax code and control borders and proliferate educational alternatives that raise up a generation of free men and women capable of sustaining a modern economy. That means high tech and a manufacturing base, not just a service sector!
